Candidate directories, past results, projections and live counts tell different stories. Each election desk identifies the type of data on screen.

BC’s election desk continues to show accepted official preliminary counts alongside certified 2024 history. Past-election placement does not mean counting or certification is complete. Ontario feed availability varies by municipality. US outlooks are projections; the candidate directory is not a live vote count. Toronto rehearsal uses clearly labelled simulated results. Brazil combines official TSE results with a dated polling snapshot and a separate illustrative vote-transfer tool.

Questions about the atlas

What can I find on PolityIQ?

Election maps, results, candidate directories and polling. The available detail varies by country and election.

How do I find a specific race?

Search by municipality, riding, state or candidate. You can also start with a country on the world map.

What do the world map colours mean?

Each colour identifies a country desk. Party colours are used separately on election maps.

Are projections the same as results?

No. Projections estimate possible outcomes. Results show reported votes, and a lead is not a declaration.

Where can I verify the figures?

Use the source links on each election desk, or visit the site’s sources and methodology pages.

Do I need an account?

No account is needed to browse the public atlas and election desks.
